Art Class: Bottle Cap Mural in Process

So I am on the bottle cap mural train. After seeing so many wonderful posts and pictures about art classes making bottle cap murals, I knew my school had to as well. I made the flyers for parents and students to bring me their bottle caps and posted on our schools FB page and the bottle caps came flooding in. Literally. One student brought in 4,183 bottle caps. Ridiculous. Ridiculously good.

Here's how we started:

I had my fifth graders count and separate them by color, it sounds like a punishment but they actually beg to do it.

This was a box that ONE student brought in, still waiting to be counted.

One of the teachers at my school graciously donated this 4 by 8 ft piece of plywood that I painted white.

The seventh grade students and I are testing out ideas for our mural. (The bottle caps aren't glued on yet)

A close up of our in progress South Carolina Flag.

So that is what we have been working on in the art classroom. I know the students (and teachers) are super excited to see the finished project. I will keep you updated! xo Lauren
