The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe Unit Plan

At my school every teacher is required to teach an Enrichment class, and I am teaching reading ( my second favorite thing other than teaching art). My seventh graders and I are reading the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and having a pretty good time. At first I didn't know where to start, but luckily I found a unit plan complete with questions and other interesting stuff at Ms. Weil's Teachers Pay Teachers Page, FOR FREE, it is amazing you need to check it out!

For our first project we talked about one point perspective and created a wardrobe that opened up to Narnia. The kids loved working on these, I will put at Template up on Josh's Teachers Pay Teachers soon.

We cut out the template using construction paper, designed our Wardrobe and and cut it down the middle so it would open properly. Then we used the same template and drew the wardrobe on a piece of cardstock. Then we drew the horizon line and a road leading to the wardrobe and created Narnia as we knew it from our reading.

Our next project we attempted to make microwavable Turkish Delight like Edmund ate with the Queen. We followed the recipe badly ( I forgot measuring cups so I had middle schoolers eyeball it, needless to say make sure you have a measuring cup). But if you follow the recipe below I am sure it will be as amazing as it looks!

I wanted to incorporate a fun writing project into our reading group, so I had each of my students write a postcard from a character in the book to Mr. Tumnus, who as we know is trapped in stone at the White Witches castle. They cracked me up with their notes, so witty.

To end our unit we are going to watch The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe we are going to watch the movie and drink hot chocolate!
