Artist Guild: An Attempt At A Haiku and Other Poems I Like Reading

I joined The Artist Guild, an online blogging community started by Samantha that is in pursuit of the creative life. I love this idea. Every month she has a fun task, ranging from riding a bicycle around your town to painting a canvas. Its not too late, join here!
This month our task was to write a poem. I am by no means a poet, but I do love poetry. Here is my attempt at a Haiku (this is meant to be funny and not introspective). I actually had to look up directions on how to create a haiku online. Shh don't tell my English major hubster.

A Haiku of 80's Hair Bands

White Snake, Kiss, Stryper
Bon Jovi, Twisted Sister,
Def Leppard, Poison

Here are some other poems that have resonated with me, most recently Apple's new ad for the Ipad Air, with Robin Williams quoting Whitman.

To get you in the Valentine's Day mood, this poem by E.E. Cummings, always sets my heart a flutter.

Two of my favorite Childhood Poems were Cats Sleep Anywhere and Homework! Oh, Homework! I can recite most of these poems by heart.

I love that people have such a gift for the written word, to make me change, make me think, make me laugh and move me to tears.

I hope your Thursday is epic. I have a snow day, so it means sleeping in and hot chocolate and maybe even some organization if I get crazy!

Here is a picture of our hairy child enjoying the snow yesterday!

XO, LKC
