Medieval Zentangles

My sixth graders are learning about Medieval Times, so I thought it as appropriate that we make some castles too! I got this idea from Becker Middle School, they made a great example using animal silhouettes. I had students play with watercolors, with a wet brush and dry paper, with a wet brush and wet paper and with an oil pastel resist before painting their castles. We watched a couple Zentangle Videos which the kids loved and I printed out some good designs. This helped kids think outside the box.

And the finished product, so beautiful! For the majority of my students, this was their first experience with watercolor. Our school district doesn't have art classes in the elementary school level so a lot of the projects we do are brand new to them!

I hope your day is fantastic!
XO, LKC
