One Creative Thing: How To Make A Gold Dipped Leather Tassel Key Ring

So last week I bought some leather at Resource Warehouse on the cheap, I got five giant pieces for nine dollars. I have been pining over these key ring tassels from Better Life Bags (crossing my fingers and toes I am getting a bag for Christmas) and while I can't make the bag, I thought I could most certainly make a tassel and you can too!

What you will need: leather scraps (at least 3 and 1/2 inches by 5 inches, acrylic gold paint, glue gun, painters tape, scissors, permanent marker and a key ring (not pictured)
Use a ruler to make sure your leather scrap is straight
Place painters tape near the bottom of the leather, but make sure you have enough space to paint the edges (mine was about 1 inch)
Paint bottom part of leather with gold acrylic paint (or whatever color you choose), I painted 4 layers of paint, using a hair dryer to dry in between layers. Pull off painters tape.
Flip leather over, mark a line where you are going to stop cutting the tassel with permanent marker.  You could also draw the lines where you are going to cut the tassel, but I just cut it free hand.
I cut my leather to 3 and 1/2 inches by 5 inches. You could make yours larger or smaller.
Cut a small piece of leather for the loop, where the key chain will link to.
Use the glue gun to glue a line for the loop.
As you roll the leather, place the other side of the loop down on the tassel, about an inch away from the first part, gluing the entire way with the glue gun. After the loop and tassel are glued down, hook a key chain link to your tassel and place it where you would like!
And tada! You're done!

What have you been making this weekend? XO, LKC
